# How to Use

> From wallet connection to swap completion

**A step-by-step guide to using TED Protocol**

TED Protocol requires no sign-up—just connect your wallet and start swapping. Beyond swaps, the app also provides stablecoin market data, liquidity pool analytics, protocol dashboards, and a transaction explorer.

<Note>
  This guide is based on the TED Protocol interface. UI and features may change with updates.

### App Pages

TED Protocol consists of the following pages:

| [**Pools**](https://tedprotocol.io/pools) | Liquidity pool analytics — TVL, volume, and fees filterable by DEX and network |
| [**Dashboard**](https://tedprotocol.io/dashboard) | Protocol-wide statistics — total transactions, volume, users, bridge/gasless usage, and per-network stats |
| [**Explorer**](https://tedprotocol.io/explorer) | Transaction explorer — search swap, bridge, and relayer transactions by type, status, and network |

<Accordion title="Before You Begin">
  You'll need:

  * **Web3 wallet** — MetaMask, WalletConnect-compatible wallets, or Coinbase Wallet
  * **Stablecoins** — USDT, USDC, or other supported tokens
  * **Native tokens** — For gas fees (ETH on Ethereum/Arbitrum/Base, POL on Polygon, BNB on BNB Chain, KAIA on Kaia). With Gasless mode, you can swap without holding native tokens

  If you're testing on testnet, you can get free tokens from our [Faucet](https://testnet.tedprotocol.io/faucet).
</Accordion>

***

### 1. Connect Your Wallet

Visit [tedprotocol.io](https://tedprotocol.io) and click **Connect Wallet** in the top right corner.

1. Select your wallet provider from the list — MetaMask, WalletConnect, or Coinbase Wallet
2. Approve the connection request in your wallet

Once connected, you'll see your wallet address displayed in the header. The protocol will automatically detect your current network and available balances.

***

### 2. Select Tokens and Chains

In the **From** section, choose your source chain and the token you want to swap. Enter the amount you'd like to exchange.

In the **To** section, select your destination chain and the token you want to receive. This can be the same chain or a different one.

<Accordion title="Supported Operation Types">
  * **Same-chain swap** — Exchange tokens within the same blockchain (e.g., USDT to USDC on Ethereum)
  * **Cross-chain transfer** — Move the same token between blockchains (e.g., USDC on Ethereum to USDC on Base)
  * **Cross-chain swap** — Swap and bridge in one flow (e.g., USDT on Ethereum to JPYC on Polygon)
</Accordion>

***

### 3. Review the Quote

Once you've selected your tokens and amounts, TED Protocol automatically:

* Queries [multiple DEXs in parallel](/protocol/multi-dex-aggregator) for the best rate
* Calculates the optimal route (which may include intermediate swaps)
* Selects the most efficient [bridge](/protocol/cross-chain-bridges) if cross-chain
* Displays the expected output amount, fees breakdown, and estimated time

Review the quote details carefully. The displayed rate includes all protocol fees and estimated gas costs.

***

### 4. Execute the Swap

Click **Swap** (for same-chain) or **Transfer** (for cross-chain) to initiate the transaction.

1. Your wallet will prompt you to confirm the transaction
2. Review the details and approve

<Accordion title="Completion Time">
  * **For same-chain swaps:** The transaction completes in approximately 30 seconds. You'll see a confirmation once your tokens arrive.

  * **For cross-chain transfers:** The process takes 5-10 minutes depending on the bridge and network conditions. You'll receive a **Track Transfer** link to monitor progress on [LayerZero Scan](https://layerzeroscan.com).
</Accordion>

### Adjusting Settings

Click the **settings icon** to access swap settings:

<Accordion title="Slippage Tolerance">
  Controls how much price movement you'll accept. **Auto** mode is enabled by default and set to 1%. You can also enter a custom value manually.

  | Preset       | Best For                                   |
  | ------------ | ------------------------------------------ |
  | 0.1%         | Precise stablecoin-to-stablecoin swaps     |
  | 0.5%         | General stablecoin swaps                   |
  | 1% (default) | Most swaps                                 |
  | 3%           | Low-liquidity pairs or volatile conditions |
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Transaction Deadline">
  Sets how long the transaction remains valid. The default is 10 minutes, adjustable between 1 and 60 minutes.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Gasless Mode">
  Enable Gasless mode to execute swaps without holding native tokens (ETH, BNB, etc.). Instead of paying gas fees, you pay with tokens you already hold, and a relayer submits the transaction on your behalf.

  **How to use:**

  1. Toggle **Gasless mode** on in the settings panel
  2. Set the priority of fee tokens — choose from TEDP, USDT, and USDC, and reorder as you prefer
  3. Execute your swap — your wallet will only request a signature, no gas payment needed

  **Fee token priority:**

  In Gasless mode, you choose which tokens to pay fees with. The default priority is TEDP → USDT → USDC. You can reorder or disable specific tokens. The highest-priority token with sufficient balance is used automatically.

  <Note>
    Gasless fees are calculated dynamically based on network conditions and token prices. The estimated fee is displayed before execution so you can review it.
